POP Culture is a closer topic in our life, it leads almost all developments of industries. So nowadays how to keep real sight is an important lesson for all of us, especially Yen Po Chun, the visual director of music albums and academy, who involve himself into this eye of trendy storm in Taiwan, let us dig and enjoy his POP mind!

I got BA degree from Departments of Applied of Art in Fu Jen Catholic University and MA degree from Departments of Fashion and communication design in Shih Chien College. Now I am as a founder of Yendesign. Our studio dedicated to Visual direction and design for exhibitions and albums. We’ve cooperated with Jolin Tsai, JJ Lin, Tanya Tsai …e.t.c for album design, and in charge of visual planning for ART TAIPEI 2012, ART TAINAN 2013, ART TAIPEI 2014, Daniel Lee Retrospective, 25th GMA. We also feel honor to be the winner of Best package design for album in 16th CMMA.

As a graphic designer in the industry of POP music, how do you define「the sense of design」?

The “Essence” of design is discover and solve the problem, Like music album is translating the abstract feeling in music into a eye-catching visual elements, so in my eyes, a good sense of design in pop music enterprise is leading the listener get deeper connection with music itself successfully!

The CLASSIC was a TRAND! What are CLASSIC and TRAND mean to you in new E-generation?

The POP after time refines would be CLASSIC, this is eternally immutable rule . Fortunately, knowledge is ubiquitous and convenient to accuracy of itself in this era of digital, so it reduces the distance between POP and CLASSIC!

Could you share us what the Drilling Lab brings for you? Did it resonate with your beliefs?

Drilling Lab claims to remove the unessential decoration by its traditional production, so it contains original mechanical texture to peruse the faith of REAL. I like that kinds of easy, raw and straight strength in product! This is similar to my belief of design, discovering and expressing the essence of things!

In your opinion, What is 「ACCESSSORY」(or even you could call it wearable devices)?

Accessories are a micro-architecture for me! They should perfectly combine with body by adjustable structure, and defiantly show wearer attitudes and values.
