Minimalism as a focus:Pablo Thecuadro

“ACROSS DIFFERENT MEDIUMS, WE BOTH USE MINIMALISM TO CREATE A VISUAL OR STYLISTIC FOCUS.”

DL In Conversation With is a dialogue between cultures and creative fields — an exploration of the authenticity of minimalism and craftsmanship. All our designs are created for the essence. This time, DL once again engaging in an exchange with Spanish collage artist Pablo Thecuadro.

What’s the guiding belief behind your art practice lately?

P:These days I’m strongly against generative AI. I really love the process of the art, it makes us patient, not everything has to be fast production and quick results.

It’s been seven years since we’ve collaborated last time, how’s the journey in these years?

P:It’s a weird feeling because I think a lot of things in my life have changed but in another way, everything is the same. So…I would say: everything is the same but I have better tools to work with.

How would you describe your style?

P:In general it’s minimal and comfortable, but I love to have crazy details on it.

What impression does the “Right Angle” series bring to you?

P:Accessories that embody both boldness and elegance.

We're focusing on the essence and authenticity of minimal aesthetics. How does this point of view manifest in your daily life now?

P:Aesthetically, I don’t like to look very busy in terms of a look, but also I love to show my personality, so it’s a contrast. I wear basic clothes because I have a lot of tattoos and I have the same phone as a lot of people but it has a lot of stickers on the back of it, made by different artists. In my daily life I try to not buy things by impulse and try to enjoy the things I already have as long as I can, so I’m very selective in what I’m buying.

One song, a movie, and a must-have item!

P:‘Enjoy the silence’ by Depeche Mode, ‘All about my mother’ by Pedro Almodóvar and a physical copy of Final Fantasy VI.
